Bransholme Enterprises is a social enterprise company establisehd in 2001. We aim to initiate, develop and continually support projects and Enterprises that are of environemtal, economic and social benefit to the Bransholme area of Hull. Our operations as a company limited by gurantee centres on the themes of environment, community and health. We currently manage a 15 acre community Woodland and allotment sites based on the Noddle Hill Way.
In April 2009 we were awarded a grant through the Big Lottery Fund’s Peoples’ Millions to enable us regenerate the Bransholme community woodland site which is located next to our allotments. This has been a real task as the Community Woodland had been neglected over a number of years. It is now a beautiful area which is accessed by many in the local area. This funding has now ceased but work continues to improve and maintain this wonderful area. We also have a working community allotment which has 49 plots which are all being used by plot holders from the local community.
We have a number of ongoing projects on the allotment and woodland sites. We deliver accredited basic horticultural courses as we are an accredited Open College Network Centre. Within these courses we also deliver soft skills to increase people’s chances of gaining employment. Our courses are free to anyone who is currently unemployed and wants to return to work.
We also work with partners such as the Youth Offending Team, local day centres, local schools and other community organisation in the North Carr area of Bransholme.
We were crowned the Overall Winners of Hull in Bloom, 2010 and we would like to take this opportunity to thank the Big Lottery Fund, the European Social Fund, the Working Neighbourhood Fund, Hull City Council, the North Carr area Team for their funding support.
We also say thank you to our hard working and dedicated volunteers for their time, effort and support.
We have some hard work ahead of us as we have recently expanded the site and have started working on our sensory garden, community orchard and have many more plots for people from the local area to use. Our composting toilet is now open to site users and is working well. We are very proud to have one of the first public composting toilets in Hull.
We love people coming to visit us and seeing for themselves the fantastic work we do so if you would like to come along or you would just like to know more then please don’t hesitate to contact the team on 01482 821467.
